Red Socks Appeal - let's get moving

This October I'm walking & swimming 50KM to raise funds in the Red Sock Appeal for Kidney Health Australia to represent the 5 hours of daily dialysis for those living with kidney disease.

Why I support this cause:

🔴 16% of hospitalisations are related to kidney disease;

🔴 1.5M Australians have early markers of kidney disease and they don't know it;

🔴 It's a silent killer - 90% of your kidney function can be lost before symptoms appear;

🔴 New treatments can stop or slow the disease but more awareness is needed for prevention and early detection;

🔴 Chronic Kidney Disease costs Australian Taxpayers $5 billion annually; and

🔴 More people die annually from kidney disease than breast cancer, prostate cancer and road accidents.

Plus who doesn't need a little fitness boost after all these lockdowns!

18 months ago I knew nothing about kidney health, but since having Kidney Health Australia as a client, I have learnt so much and can see the positive impact they are making.

Most people don't know they have kidney disease until stage 4, which means dialysis treatment and waiting for a kidney transplant. Now new treatments are available and you can stop or slow the disease if caught earlier. It's a simple blood and urine test to detect the disease.

Just think, if we can get 1000 people to raise $100 that's $100,000 without breaking a sweat!

You can support me by donating on the link below or participating too (at a walk or virtually) or buy some socks.
